#5 – Multimeter
You’ll need a multimeter to know what you’re working on and help you diagnose where the problem is. Multimeters are very useful test instruments used to troubleshoot everything from an automobile electrical system to a computer switch mode power supply. Multimeters can be purchased at many different types of stores both online and offline and are one of those must have electrician tools.
Multimeters can be purchased at many different retail stores here in the United States. There’s a couple of problems with purchasing a multimeter at a retail store. The biggest problem is you are going to have to pay the retail price. Secondly, retail stores have a limited selection of multimeters to choose from. With that being said, there are reasons to purchase from a retail store. If you only need a cheaper multimeter to perform basic measurements every once in a while, or you need the multimeter right now, then purchasing from a retail store may be the way to go. Multimeters can be purchased at auto parts stores, stores like Walmart and Radio Shack, home improvement stores, and at electronic repair stores.
Probably the best place to buy a multimeter is online and the best one is the Fluke Intellitone Pro 200 Toner and Probe. By shopping online, you will typically find that you can purchase the same multimeter at a cheaper price. You also have a much larger selection to choose from and you can research and review the multimeter before you spend your money.
When you buy multimeters online at a large online retailer such as Amazon, you will also know that your purchase will be backed by a reputable company.
If you can wait a few days, want to save some money, or want a multimeter that is not sitting on a retail shelf, then buying a multimeter online will probably be the best place to make your purchase.
